Rack Washers

The SMC Model RW6290 Rack Washer line is based upon the tried-and -true reciprocating spray technology that has been the basis of all of the best cage and rack washing equipment available since the early 1970's. No rotating spray machine can match the performance or the perfectly validatable nature of our machines. All of our Rack Washer models are available in pit- or floor-mounted versions, and as single entry or pass-through units. Universal or custom racks are available to allow the user to process any items that will fit into the chamber. The latest addition to this line is the Universal Rack Washer, Model URW6514, which will process up to 100 cages per load in 5 minutes, as well as running all traditional cycles such as Acid, Descale and long scrubbing-type cycles for heavily soiled or infrequently cleaned items.

Bedding Disposers

SMC Bedding Disposers are provided in manual (for use with a garbage bag-in-can system) and Automatic Grinder versions. Our BDU230 Series Disposer is based on an industrial Insinkerator® unit designed for continuous daily operation for many years. This type of disposal unit is far superior to any hammer-mill unit: not only is it simpler and more robust in design, it is self-cleaning and contains no screens to plug and foul. In addition, service is handled directly through your local Insinkerator® service center, should it ever be necessary. The DU230 can be used as a stand-alone unit, or it can be closely integrated with a new or existing Tunnel Washer.

Cage and Bottle Washers

The SMC Model CBW1026 and its related product group are large capacity, heavy-duty batch-type spray cabinet washers. They combine robust industrial components with heavy Stainless Steel cabinetry to provide the ultimate solution for the large or small Animal facility to wash cages, bottles, pans, sipper tubes and other items ancillary to the care of Lab Animals. Machines are available in several configurations, and with a variety of optional features which will allow use in any conceivable Laboratory environment.

Bottle Fillers

SMC provides Bottle Fillers in two basic designs: Single Station manual feed (Model BF9016) and Gravity Conveyor feed (Model BF9110). Either unit is available in manual or automatic fill versions. All fillers are complete with machined jets and Stainless Steel legs, pans and splash guards. Units can be furnished with quick-coupled headers for use with several different bottle baskets.

Tunnel Washers

The SMC Model SL1200 Series Tunnel Washers are high-capacity, conveyorized spray washers designed and optimized for the cleaning of animal caging, bottles and other items ancillary to the care of laboratory animals. In the SL1200, robust industrial-type components and heavy Stainless Steel construction are combined with modern technology to provide the best equipment available in terms of temperature control, validation, ease of operation and ease of maintenance. Like all of our machines, the SL1200 is simple and transparent to use and designed for a minimum 30-year lifetime.

Bedding Dispensers

SMC provides both Automatic and Manual style bedding dispensers. Whether you are bedding 1200 cages per hour or 200 cages per day, we have the right solution for you.

Automatic Bedding Dispensers

The SMC Model BD30 is a fully automatic bedding dispenser designed to dispense a uniform amount of bedding into cages that are conveyed through the dispenser opening. Bedding is loaded from bags or via a vacuum transport system into the storage hopper, from whence it is automatically elevated to the bedding dispensing area. The amount of bedding dispensed is easily adjustable, and will remain constant regardless of cage size or orientation. If the machine is integrated with an SMC Tunnel Cage Washer, the caging will be automatically inverted and loaded from the washer to the dispenser, with full control integration.

Manual Bedding Dispensers

The SMC Model BDSA32 is a stand-alone bedding dispenser designed to dispense a uniform amount of bedding into two cages, which are simultaneously inserted into the dispenser opening. Bedding is loaded from bags into the lower hopper and is automatically elevated to the upper filling hoppers. A panel-mounted timer allows precise control of the amount of bedding to be dispensed. The filling cycle is activated when the operator places two cages into the unit; a precision trip mechanism senses the presence of the cages and operates the timed fill cycle.

QuickWash Option

When an SMC Rackwasher is equipped with this option, it will also run all traditional cycles, including: alkaline and acid wash, acid soak, multiple rinses and so on. This is completely selectable by supervision.

The unit is equipped with a separate set of headers and jets, sized appropriately and mounted alongside of the normal reciprocating headers. These jets are fed with fresh, hot water from your house supply, heated through the onboard heat exchanger. The heat control of the machine microprocessor, and which guarantees water to be delivered at the set temperature [up to 200oF (93.3oC)].

The unit begins with a sump full of water. Detergent is added to this water, and the unit runs a wash cycle phase with pump spary and sump heating. Typical duration would be 3-5 minutes When the wash cycle phase is complete, the unit immediately begins to spray fresh, clean hot water from the rinse jet headers onto all load surfaces. Typical duration is 3 minutes, at a temperature up to 200oF (93.3oC). While the unit is rinsing, approximately one-half (25 gallons/95L) of the solution in the sump is drained out through the self-flushing debris strainer. The rinse water falls into the sump, refreshing the wash solution and preparing the sump for the next load. When the next load commences, the detergent concentration is corrected and the cycle continues as above.

Wash solutions are partially re-used but continually refreshed. Total water usage in this mode will be about 25 gallons (95 L) per cycle.

Glassware Dryers

The Model GD1021 Glassware Dryer is a Stainless Steel drying oven complete with convection fan and temperature regulation. It is designed to safely and completely dry any and all laboratory wares.

Glassware Washers

The Model GW1020 Laboratory Glassware Washer is a high capacity spray cabinet washer specifically designed to clean and sanitize laboratory glassware of all shapes and sizes as well as other items used in the laboratory environment. Several optional features are available, as well as many optional accessories to handle and wash many common laboratory items. The Model GW1020 incorporates a large number of “state-of-the-art” features to ensure thorough, efficient cleaning, as well as many features unique to our design. Plumbing design ensures no cross-contamination among wash and rinses.
